Are Indoor Workouts the best form of Exercise?
Is pumping Iron, running around the gym, and riding the Elliptical better than exercising outside?
As it was recently discovered by Iowa Avenue member, Joe S, in Weightloss-No Gym Required!, outdoor workouts such as chopping trees, splitting wood, and hauling the wood away, stretches your body to its limit.
Not all outside work is as strenuous as splitting wood, but chores like mowing the lawn, raking leaves, and shoveling snow are hard work.
Also, running, swimming, biking, basketball, and many other outdoor exercises push your body to the maximum—and they are natural, free, and provide fresh air. These are only a few.
Some examples for how many calories you’ll burn:
* You burn more calories raking the lawn, than walking at 3.5 miles per hour.
* You burn more calories shoveling snow, than doing a low impact aerobic exercise
* You burn more calories by mowing the lawn, than going for a leisurely bike ride.
So next time you don’t have time to exercise, by just mowing the lawn, carrying your kids to the car, or even painting the garage, you’ll still be burning calories. A lot!
If you added up all the activities you do in a day, how many calories do you think you’d use?
While going to the gym is great; exercising and just keeping active outside probably burns more calories than you think, because
After all, it’s about a healthy lifestyle!
